What is a Film Production Company Institution?

A film production company is a company responsible for the development and physical production of a movie film to be screened in cinemas and released onto DVD. The company will also be directly responsible for the raising of funding for the production or may accomplish this through an intermediary. The production company may be a small company (independent), selling its product to a film studio or presenting it at a theatrical venue, or, it may be a large film company and have its own studio (mainstream). A co-production is a film made by more than one company. Many films released nowadays have this as it allows them more funds to produce the film and pay the actors, thus the film ends up higher quality. It is also common for actors to form their own production companies so that they can have more control over their own careers.
